Trauma

Many people are exposed to traumatic experiences. Accidents, violence, and sexual assault can wreak havoc on life. The emotional wounds and reactions that occur as a result from these events rarely subside independently - effective treatment is needed to heal.

Symptoms of trauma include:

  • Constantly waking up in the middle of the night or having flashbacks during the day
  • Anger or irritability for seemingly no reason
  • Feelings of perpetual sadness, tearfulness or detachment from the full range of emotions
  • Uneasiness in situations that are considered relatively safe

Everyone processes trauma differently. I utilize cognitive processing therapy (CPT), an evidenced based treatment proven effective for those suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Be encouraged that recovery from these symptoms are possible with the right approach and treatment.
